When deciding how we wanted to kick off our Jeune Wine Club, we knew that we wanted to do something intimate that could truly encapsulate our intentions for the club: an effortless, curated, good time. It made perfect sense to pair up with our friend, and a great inspiration to us, Chef Kevin O’Connor of Cobram Estate to create a beautiful evening in the olive grove. Working with seasonal and locally foraged ingredients (seared duck served over creamed corn with elderberry sauce from berries grown on the property, holy moly) and cooking it all on the open fire, he set the scene for old friends and new friends to come together and enjoy natural wines selected by Jeune. We kept this focus on connectedness and community going by selecting all California wines from friends and makers we admire. Every glass perfectly paired with the course by our partner and Sommelier, Tyler Stacy (it was impossible to pick a favorite!). It was kismet that the launch of this new chapter for Jeune was also toasted with the first pressed olive oil of the season, pressed that very morning and deliciously unfiltered. It was served on everything and sometimes just tossed back solo. Heaven. From sunset truck-bed rides in the back of Blanca to late-night toasts seen only by candlelight, the night was pure magic. Special thank you to our guests Laura Schoorl of Pansy, Maia Smith of Bitte, Sarah Perez of Electric Sun Creatives, Sarah Buscho of Earth Tu Face, Alicia Lund of Cheetah is the New Black and Beth Pellegrini of Makers Mart. Thank you also to Jessica Miller of Oak + Ash for the incredible flowers and to our beautiful and talented photographer, Monika Kost. Chef Kevin O’Connor and Cobram Estate, we could not have done it without you. We look forward to many more Jeune Wine Club happenings in the future. Jeune Wine Club launching October 2019.
